Also, I found something that supports my "controversial statement" in my last post.

"A good reader percieves the poem structurally, resulting in good criticism... A poor reader, on the other hand, simply expressses his or her personal emotions and reactions to a text. Such a reader is untrained in literary technique and craftsmanship. A poor reader and poor criticism, for example, may argue that a poem can mean anything its reader or its author wishes it to mean. On the other hand, a good critic and good criticism will assert that only through a detailed structural analysis of a poem can the correct interpretation arise" (57-58).
